time in the wind

i return with the wind tonight
to touch thy face
which has touched my heart.
speak to me, and in ending
let go the fretful chains that
bound us from where
our eyes in ignorance and folly dwell.

i reached home with a heavy heart
weary of explorations done, and those yet to come
yet i lie assured as does the firm earth
that all my travels lead to thee.
i can only hope that soon in waiting,
i shall see your face
in the same moonlight i found it in.

'tis an arduous task
to think of anything as bereft with beauty as we
on a calm summer eve, i long to be.
but i shall remain steadfast
as the last cone that persists despite the winter.
time cannot forever delay
for the night our souls will sleep
together as one
is slowly nearing its way.
