you make the donation, you will have the chance to leave a comment.
Day-to-day expenses and costs for all of the
equipment have been personally funded by myself working full time through
college and through the last of my remaining scholarship stipend from the
University. My average expenses for day-to-day trip expenses are
approximately $5-8/ day depending on the country. This includes costs for food, visas,
bicycle parts and maintainance, and only when absolutely necessary,
hostel/motel costs. It does not,
however, include emergency situations or gear replacement costs, which
are often considerable and unpredictable.
From the beginning, I consciously decided NOT to
make this ride a 'charity' ride. At
the heart of this journey, I am driven by a desire to learn
experientially from the world and to transform myself and the world in
the process. By refusing to accept
any corporate sponsors even when I had the option to, I am choosing to
engage the journey as it comes, not in anyone else’s terms.
Along the way, I am also earning money in
several ways to supplement trip expenses: through freelance writing, and
through musical performances whenever the opportunity arises. As a result, I hope my pen and my
guitar can aid me in my goals of bringing music, friendships, and
inter-cultural understanding to the world.
If you have been moved at all by my experiences,
or if you share a similar vision of a better world, please consider
donating.
Please note: The California to Patagonia:
A Cycling Expedition project is not a registered charitable
organization. Your donation will
not be tax-deductible. Funds
donated will be used to cover general trip expenses, and will have a
direct and meaningful impact on my journey. I am deeply appreciative of your
blessings and gifts. Thank you.
